Amanda
Amanda is a counseling intern completing her graduate training in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy. She also holds an alcohol and drug counselor certification in the state of Arkansas and has several years of experience working with substance use, addiction, mental health concerns, trauma, life transitions, and relationship challenges.
Amanda has worked with adults, adolescents, couples, families, and justice-involved individuals. As a military veteran herself, she also welcomes fellow veterans as clients and understands on a personal level some of the complex issues related to military service and life as a veteran. Her counseling approach is warm, collaborative, and nonjudgmental, with a focus on helping clients feel safe, heard, and understood. She believes that lasting change often involves exploring the deeper issues, past experiences, trauma, family patterns, and core beliefs that may contribute to present-day struggles.
While Amanda has experience with and knowledge of a variety of counseling theories and approaches, she believes each client’s therapy should be unique to their individual needs. She draws from concepts found in CBT, DBT, ACT, client-centered therapy, psychodynamic theory, and family systems approaches. Through her marriage and family therapy coursework, she has also gained knowledge related to family systems, emotionally focused therapy, and the Gottman Method. Amanda is passionate about helping clients along their journey of healing and growth.
Amanda is available to work with individuals, couples, adolescents, and families, and offers flexible daytime, evening, and weekend scheduling. She is able to provide therapy services in person at the clinic, as well as through telehealth when needed. As a counseling intern, Amanda provides services under the supervision of licensed counseling professionals.
